Welcome to Madrid

Madrid Boutique & Luxury Hotels

Madrid is an elegant city with history, royal palaces and beautiful parks to walk around. Shop on a Saturday afternoon, or head to a tapas bar, for a glass of Rioja and tapas. Normally the tapas is free with each drink and the more you spend in the bar the better and bigger the tapas plates become…or is that just an illusion created by the Rioja?

At night time Madrid is a lively city as you would expect…if you are in bed before 2 am then you are not experiencing Madrid to its fullest. Head to Plaza Santa Ana, Malasaña, La Latina and Chueca. The latter is the main gay district but welcomes a mixed crowd. The nightlife is Madrid is excellent with a really good atmosphere and an up for it crowd.

The Prado Museum (Museo Nacional Del Prado) hosts some of the finest works by Spanish artists such as Velázquez, Goya and Raphael. Take a cable car over the Casa de Campo park for some great views.  Other sites include the 16th Century Palacio Real de Madrid (Royal Palace of Madrid) is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family but it’s only used for state functions with the Royal Family residing outside of the city centre. Retiro Park is great for a post Sunday lunch stroll with performers busking for your entertainment and, of course, a few Euros.

For shopping head to Salamanca, Calle Serrano, Lagasca, Chueca and Calle Fuencarral. Brands such as Zara, Desigual and Mango are much cheaper than at home.

And of course Real Madrid play at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and, whilst tickets are not always easy to get hold of, the concierge at your hotel may be able to source match day tickets for you

Madrid is a great weekend city break. Winters are cold and summers very hot ...too hot for many of the locals as they head to the beaches leaving Madrid much quieter during July & August. So Spring and Autumn are good times to discover the Spanish capital city.
